A Chance Blooming
この星の首夏の壌土にフッと咲き
this planet
in this summer soil
a chance blooming
On a summer morning, I happened to find pretty flowers I had never seen in our garden corner. I checked their name on Google Lens and found the name 庭石菖-niwazekishou, annual blue-eyed grass. It seems to bloom only one day and I was just thrilled by this chance meeting. I felt like thanking their seeds to be blown off or carried by a bird and dropped off in our garden.
It may be a matter of luck, but we can also try to be perceptive and open to the outside world so as not to miss out on any chances.

Changing clothes for the summer
In May we put away winter clothes and change for the summer ones. Clothes are out in the sun and the winter scrolls are also replaced by this summer-kimono remake.
Each square card reads 'sanaezuki' and 'satsuki',
meaning "rice seedlings' month" and 'the fifth month of the lunar calendar' both referring to 'May'.
Lilies of the valley fill the room with a fresh aroma of early summer as if to bring out the withdrawn hearts in this odd time.

SCROLL FOR APRIL
wish it were
an innocent global joke
April Fools' Day
April is a beautiful month but this year things are total upside down due to the raging virus. The above haiku is my heartfelt wish and down below shows something I fiddled with to mitigate the blues.
Two scrolls made of a narrow sash(hoso obi) with pockets for seasonal flowers and a small square poetry card(left one) and a photo of a Japanese white-eye(mejiro).
The card reads 'uzuki', an old name for April in the lunisolar calendar and in the pockets snowflake and camellia in the bud are arranged.
