My Year 2017

The whole two years have passed since my blog was
started, which, I recollect, was ignited by this Japanese snake's beard.

Its blue fruit dropped inside our gate happened to catch my eye. "Where has it come from?" My search here and there has reached this plant.

Turning over the drooping thin leaves of the plain green bundle, I found their pretty blue fruit hidden in abundance.

They have regularly born berries, which either dropped or withered as they were without being noticed for decades.

"How terrible and wasteful ignorance is!" That's why I  started this blog. I guess my journey was started to seek the meaning of sharing my ideas or letting the seemingly valuable facts known to others.

Groping

My first year was spent on the time-consuming work of the technique.

Also starting to write passages and then to translate them made me realize how little my brain had functioned before.

The last process of matching photos or drawings to the passages was a fun.  Thus my solid first year swiftly passed.

Spontaneously

I have been spending the second year more spontaneously without any projects like that of renku of the first year.

The figures like how many bloggers over the world accessed my blog encouraged me the first year but
the second year I haven't been fully motivated, for I couldn't guess how they felt about it.

Therefore so far I have been entering my passage only when I got one and the second year is coming to an end now.

How About The Third Year?

While trying to maintain virtue of modesty like that of Japanese snake's beard, I would like to continue this blog at my own pace as a place of expression.

I hope to be sprightly uttering while keeping as calm and composed as the reserved and sober vase and the white double camellia in this photo.

The pears given by the powerful neighboring lady were superbly rich, sweet, and juicy. I wonder if I could mature like them.

Without so much fear and inner conflict behind arrogance and confidence of our youth, we may feel a little easier since we can settle and focus despite some functions inevitably falling with the age.

There are very poor future prospects in the world now but I will try at least to stick to the positive stance of piling up what I'm supposed to do every day with enough consideration for others.

A POND-SIDE CHAT

             ///////////////////////////////////
                                       ===============

”Ah, only one today!"
                                 ”Are they usually in pairs?"
”Always a pair of them around 2:00"
                                 ”Won't you take photos?"
”I just come watch them."
”Everyone has elaborate                                              cameras, don't they?"

Saying this, I hesitantly took out my compact digital camera and focused on the kingfisher with the camera I was embarrassed to take out among the pro-looking lenses.

"Look, it's partner has come!."
                                   "It did come at 2:00."
"Why don't they perch together?"

"Glad of just a shot of one."
"See you soon."
                                    "Probably at 2:00 again."

During this not a well-side but pond-side chat,  my ears were pleasantly tickled by the low twittering.

GINGKO LEAVES DANCING

The big ginkgo trees in the precincts of the nearby shrine unhold a spectacular show of golden leaves every year. The other day I happened to go there on a windy day and witnessed a stormy fall of the leaves.

The leaves were actually showering down, covering half of the grounds together with orange pits. I heard the rhythmic sound of pits hitting the shrine roof, too.

This powerful transition of nature made me feel there is still a slight hope for the future. The world has gotten too interlocked everywhere to start from scratch. And yet as long as there is this regeneration of nature, we can afford to hope for just a little better tomorrow.

WINTER BUDS

Every winter I 'm moved by the winter buds shining in the sun.

They remind me of the strong gaze of the small refugees shown on TV.

I know their situations are much direr than those of the buds in Japan but the buds' strength in enduring the severe cold still touches my heart.

They seem to warn me not to indulge in an easy lifestyle.

Another typical winter scene is that of the thick bedquilts fluttering on the terraces of a condominium and it is the very picture of peace.

But just to think of the labor put into making the thick bedquilts or to compare ours with those used by the people in the slams or the refugee camps makes us recognize how blessed we are.
I hope we can at least adjust ourselves when we get concerned to know the situations of others in worse conditions. Then I suppose every trivial thing we see, hear, feel or touch in our routine bears some meaning.
